Printed Signage and Manifestation for Westminster University

Glass manifestation and printed signage installation at London University

Having been established in 1998, The Window Film Company was delighted to be invited to carry out a project at a much older institution – the 174 year old Westminster University.

The University, originally founded in 1838 as Britain’s first polytechnic, required manifestation on a significant section of glazing, as well as way-finding signage to enable easy navigation of the maze of hallways, corridors and numerous rooms.

Manifestation is required to be applied to glass for a number of health and safety and legislative reasons, but there is scope for how any manifestation appears, allowing The Window Film Company to help customers to be creative with their choices.

On this occasion The Window Film Company provided and installed 21 rows of manifestation dots, cut from our vibrant crystal etch frosted film. By choosing this design, the University was able to achieve a visually appealing and eye-catching finish, combining design and aesthetics with functionality.

The second element of the job required the print and installation of a range of way-finding signage, designed to clearly mark room numbers and the route to facilities and amenities. Using a design supplied by the university, The Window Film Company used state of the art UV printing technology to produce a crystal clear finish – printing coloured ink onto optically clear film to ensure the sharpest of images.

The use of window film is often born of necessity, but as Westminster University and The Window Film Company have successfully proved, there is no reason why a functional project can’t be turned into something creative and visually stimulating.
