Full colour graphics are a fantastic way of bringing windows and glass to life. By printing onto optically clear film, it is possible to recreate even the most intricate of designs for display, and by backing the print in white ink the image can become even more vivid and impressive.

Whilst window film is well known for its functional uses, it can also be used to create impressive decorative features. One of the most popular methods is to print full colour designs onto optically clear film. The film is applied to the full expanse of glass, with the areas of film not printed allowing vision through the glass. This method gives the appearance of cut graphics, but negates the need for intricate cutting and weeding, allowing for a perfect finish every time.

The graphics on this occasion were for a Central London gaming arcade, with the desired effect an eye-catching and colourful window display that still allowed for an element of vision into the premises.

The artwork was supplied by Atlantic Amusements, the arcade's owners and The Window Film Company's in-house graphics team scaled the artwork to fit the precise window sizes, before providing a visual proof for approval. Upon review of the artwork, it was suggested that once printed, the film should be backed in white ink. This is a dual print process that sees the colour element printed, followed by a layer of white ink. The layer of white ink forms a layer behind the main print and serves to give the printed colours an extra level of vibrancy and brightness.

The size of the windows and the display meant that the design would have to be printed over a number of different panels. The Window Film Company's teams of installers are vastly experienced, and it was their skill and attention to detail that allowed them to fit the panels with a finish that is seamless to the naked eye.

As with the majority of printed graphics, the film was fitted to the internal side of the glazing and was carried out by a two man team.

The finished product is a bright, eye-catching window display that will serve to attract attention as well as allowing a view into the facility.

Printed graphics are a cost effective and efficient way of turning glass or glazing into an advertising or branded feature, with the nature of the film meaning it can be installed quickly and with a minimum of fuss or intrusion. Film can also be replaced if updated graphics are ever required - an option not available expensive signage or replacement glass.
