MAKE IT BRIGHT BY BACKING IN WHITE

Sep 26 2014

Printed graphics have long since been an effective way of attracting attention to your products or premises, but by backing the printing in pure white ink, The Window Film Company can create even brighter, more vivid and striking displays and signage for your windows.

The Window Film Company were approached by a Hertfordshire based health studio to provide large scale graphics to cover the facilities two main widows. The application of full colour graphics would provide privacy for the staff and gym members, whilst also providing a very strong branding display.

In the first instance, a site survey was carried out in order to determine the exact sizes of the panes whilst also assessing the inside of the building for any potential installation issues.

With a full understanding of the area and the project requirement, it was agreed that the graphics, supplied by the client, would be printed onto optically clear film and applied to the internal face of the glass.

Proofs were created and approved by The Window Film Company’s in-house print and design team before the print process was begun. By using a UV printer it is possible to recreate graphics, illustrations and designs in fantastic, bright detail but by backing the print in white ink, it is possible to create an even more vivid finish. The process of backing in white is a single pass process, with the printer laying down two layers of ink in one movement. Whilst the white ink isn’t visible in the design itself, it does serve to add an extra level of brightness and clarity to the print.

Once printed the film was installed by one of The Window Film Company’s expert installation teams. Due to the size of the panes, the film was fitted with a join. Despite this requirement for the use of two widths of film, once installed the join was virtually invisible, thanks to the expertise of the fitting team.

The film was fitted to the internal face of the glass and once installed provided the facility with a bright, colourful window display, giving an aura of professionalism and style – the utilisation of white ink in the printing process the final touch in ensuring the best possible appearance.
