READY FOR THE RAT RACE!

May 01 2015

Staff at the Window Film Company are always on the lookout for ways to make an impact outside the window film industry, and one of the ways this is achieved is by raising money for charity. The most recent fundraising effort is well underway and will see Director Micky Calcott taking part in the world’s largest obstacle course – the 2015 Rat Race.

The event takes place on Saturday 9 May at Burghley House, an Elizabethan Country Estate and requires participants to complete a 20 mile course, running through, under and over an unprecedented 200 obstacles along the way. Micky is running the event for the third time, on this occasion in a bid to raise money for Children with Cancer UK. Speaking ahead of the event, he said:

“The main aim of taking part is to raise money for a hugely important charity, but I have to say I am looking forward to it. It will be a big test, but I’ve been training hard and am ready to go! The event is bigger than ever and I’m aiming to complete the course in under four hours, but I’ll be pleased to get round in one piece!”

Ahead of the race Micky has stuck to a strict training regime to ensure he makes it round – raising as much money as possible in the process, so
if you are able to, please do donate to what is a very worthy cause. You can make a donation quickly and easily by following this link. Every contribution helps.

This is the latest in a range of charitable events that colleagues from The Window Film Company have been involved in. Staff from all parts of the business have taken part in a range of similar events over the past 12 months, with obstacle course and even marathons completed to raise much needed funds for local and national charities. These efforts are in addition to less physical but equally important contributions including the popular “World’s biggest coffee morning” for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The Window Film Company also lends support to a number of charities local to the Company HQ in Chesham. The company is proud to be a sponsor at local football team Chesham United, a supporter of Chilterns Dog Rescue Society and proud members of the corporate patron programme at Rennie Grove Hospice Care and the Hospice of St Francis. Director Micky Calcott said of the partnerships:

“We’ve had a base in Buckinghamshire since we began trading in 1998 and I think it’s important to try and give a bit back to the local community. We’re proud of being an organisation with a nationwide reach, but also recognise the importance of what goes on locally and I’m pleased we’re in a position to be able to contribute to a number of vital and worthwhile schemes.”

Micky will run the 20 mile course, featuring 200 obstacles on Saturday 9 May. If you can, please sponsor him here: https://www.justgiving.com/micky-calcott
