THE BEAUTY OF BRONZE

Apr 15 2016

Anyone who has sat in an office during the summer time can relate to the problems glare can cause. Left unchecked, sunlight will stream through glazing, making it difficult to focus on screens, paperwork and colleagues. On the flipside, anyone who has sat in an office during the summer can relate to how nice it is to have a view of the outside and a naturally lit interior. The trick is finding the balance between the two and that’s where The Window Film Company come in.

We were approached by the office manager of a large facility in Bristol. The large glass frontage gave the premises a sleek and stylish appearance as well as a bright and airy feel inside. There was however, an issue with glare. A solution was required that would cut down on the glare, whilst also protecting the view to the exterior without sacrificing natural light.

Discussions took place regarding the range of suitable products, including the provision of samples, allowing the client to see each films performance first hand before committing to a decision. Following this process, it was decided that solar bronze was the most appropriate film.

The film was chosen for its high level of performance and appearance. The bronze external appearance was in keeping with the look and feel of the building, meaning that once installed it would complement the design of the building. In addition, the glare performance was excellent, with a glare reduction figure of 77% achievable.

In addition to cutting down glare, the film would also serve to maintain a moderate internal temperature and also block up to 99% of the suns UV rays – one of the main contributing factors to fading.

The nature of the building meant that an internal application of the film was not going to be possible, so an added consideration was the availability of an external grade film. These films are created specifically for application to the outside face of the glass and are specially designed to provide the longest life span possible, despite constant exposure to the changeable UK weather. In addition to the specialist film, access equipment was required to carry out the install, with the nine large panels situated almost 7 metres from ground level.

The fitting was undertaken by one of our fully trained and experienced installation teams, using a cherry picker to carry out the project. Once fitted, the film was effective immediately. The external appearance of the office took on a new, stylish look whilst internally the glare reduction was noticeable instantly.

The project delivered the ideal glare reduction solution, with a more comfortable working environment secured without blocking the view or losing out on natural light. On this occasion there can be no denying that it was The Window Film Company’s solar bronze film setting the gold standard!
