FILM TO FIGHT FADING

Apr 11 2014

With Spring well and truly sprung and Summer on the horizon, the long days and arrival of
warmer weather are a welcome development for most. However, prolonged heat and light can bring with it unwanted complications. Among them, fading.

Fading is caused by three main factors: heat, light and UV rays so wherever there are windows, it can result in damage in both commercial and residential settings. Floors and furnishings, valuable equipment and artwork can all be at risk, but as shown in this example, an application of specialist window film from The Window Film Company can help.

On this occasion, the setting was a residential property. The house benefitted from large banks of windows that delivered magnificent views, but the extensive glass meant that there was an issue with fading. A solution was sought that could mitigate against fade, whilst also preserving the view. The Window Film Company were able to recommend UV Clear, a film designed specifically to filter out as much of the sun’s harmful UV rays, whilst remaining neutral in appearance.

Often referred to as museum film, the film is virtually undetectable once installed, with extremely high UV protection performance. The film provides an invisible barrier to UV, blocking 99.8% of the harmful rays and serving to slow down the fading process considerably.

One of The Window Film Company’s trained Account Managers was able to explain the properties and performance of the film to the customer, whilst also arranging for the delivery of a working sample, allowing the client to see the film in situ before making a decision. Upon receipt of the sample film, it was agreed that the film was the appropriate choice, and an installation date was agreed.

The Window Film Company’s teams of installers are highly qualified and vastly experienced, allowing them to deliver the perfect finish in either a residential or commercial environment, with this job no exception. The end result was a highly effective layer of fade protection, delivered without changing the appearance of the windows, or altering the view.

In addition to Clear UV, there a range of other window films that can help to combat the effects of fading, as well as delivering other benefits such as solar control, glare reduction, privacy, safety and security.
