The Window Film Company have completed an installation of digital wallpaper and printed window film throughout Baden-Powell House, adding a stylish, bespoke finish to the walls and glass partitions at the famous location.

Located in the heart of Kensington, Baden-Powell House is the former headquarters of the Scout Association. The Association relocated in 2001, but have retained ownership of the substantial building which is now used as a hotel and conference centre. As part of a recent large scale refurbishment, The Window Film Company were engaged to deliver a range of branding and wayfinding signage.

One of the most utilised materials was digital wallpaper, a fully customisable product that can be installed onto almost any flat surface, instantly transforming not only walls, but traditionally ignored surfaces such as cupboards and doors. A range of graphics were printed by The Window Film Company’s dedicated print and graphics department, including text from the Scout Associations mission statement, logos and a large map of the premises.

In some locations privacy was required, where Frostbrite frosted film was applied. Once installed, frosted film gives glass the appearance of acid etched or sandblasted glass, preventing vision from both sides of the glass. The film provides the appearance of genuine frosted glass, delivering a stylish and immediately effective result.

Throughout many of the corridors, the carefully created design flowed across walls, doors and windows, with a constant, sweeping line connecting  each part of the building with a common design element. This meant that careful planning was required to ensure that each panel, each of a different size, connected perfectly.

Before any of the work was undertaken a site survey was carried out, allowing a Window Film Company specialist to take exact measurements of each area. These details were then passed on to the graphics and print team, who used the artwork created by the Scouts Association to create a detailed, to scale proof. Once signed off by the client, each panel was carefully created – printed using state of the art wide format print technology, computer cut for perfect accuracy and hand checked to ensure each panel was perfect before being installed.

With each of the panels printed and cut, they were installed by a number of The Window Film Company’s experienced and fully qualified fitting teams.

Once installed, the graphics and film gave the venue a genuine sense of personality, with the brand identity incorporated throughout the location across a number of different surfaces.

The images below show a selection of the wallpaper and film in situ.
