THE OPTICALLY CLEAR CHOICE

Glass partitions and doors continue to be a stylish and popular choice in offices up and down the country. By installing printed graphics to the glazed areas, it is possible to enhance the look and feel of the premises, whilst also meeting legislative requirements. 

The Window Film Company was engaged to print and install full colour graphics to a Worcestershire based office, with a view to meeting manifestation needs as well as delivering an eye-catching decorative feature across 13 full length panels.

The initial need was to make sure that all manifestation regulations were met. Manifestation markings are required by law to make sure that glazing of a certain size is easily visible. A health and safety feature, the markings need to appear at certain points on the glass, providing an immediately obvious contrast with the background and serving to prevent accidents. On this occasion, the client chose to cover the entire glass with printed graphics, delivering manifestation, an element of privacy and a striking decorative feature.

The graphics took the form of a number of beautiful photographs, each featuring Silver Birch trees – a key component in the organisations business. It was agreed that the graphics would be printed on optically clear film, which would result in a striking and bold finish as well as allowing light to pass through each panel. The graphics would also provide privacy for the range of offices and meeting rooms throughout the building.

Upon receipt of the artwork, The Window Film Company’s in-house graphics team liaised with the client as they experimented with different levels of printed opacity. The aim was to find the right balance between vivid, bold visuals and the necessary light levels, with several samples crated and shared before an agreement was reached on the final print.

With the proof approved and the opacity levels agreed, each panel was printed, checked and finished by hand ahead of installation. The fit was undertaken by one of The Window Film Company’s experienced and fully qualified installation teams.

Once fitted, the office was instantly transformed. The graphics gave the premises a professional and stylish appearance, with the carefully selected imagery illustrating an important part of the business. The graphics met all necessary manifestation requirements and also provided privacy, without making any part of the office feel dark or deprived of light.
