ROOM WITH AN OPTIVIEW

The DRP Group are an established communications and presentations company, well known for delivering memorable design and audio visual experiences. With their Midlands based premises suffering from excess heat and glare, they had need of a specialist from a different field and contacted The Window Film Company.

The issue was being caused by the entrance to the Worcestershire property. It was formed of 8 large glass panels, which whilst delivering a sleek and stylish appearance, were also resulting in solar gain and glare, making it uncomfortable for those operating within. A solution was sought that would reduce both heat and glare, whilst still maintaining the view to the outside.

The solution was Optiview 15, a specialist film designed to deliver high levels of solar protection, rejecting up to 80% of solar energy whilst reducing glare by as much as 86%. The mirrored appearance of the film delivers the solar control element, reflecting away unwanted solar energy before it can enter the property whilst also cutting out the glare without sacrificing natural light or the internal view.

Samples of the film were sent to the team at DRP, who were able to apply a small section of the product to the affected area, observing the performance in different lighting conditions and at different times of day. Satisfied that the film was the appropriate choice, an installation date was agreed.

The logistics were handled by The Window Film Company’s operations team, who have the responsibility for arranging a suitable date for the work to be undertaken, as well as making provision for any necessary access equipment. On this occasion a five metre scaffold tower was required, with much of the work taking place at the height of a second storey.

The film was installed internally by one of The Window Film Company’s fully trained and qualified teams of fitters, with the work carried out at a time designed to keep disruption to the busy premises at a minimum. The completed project saw the glazing take on a stylish and professional appearance, whilst immediately delivering relief from excess heat and the unpleasant glare – a problem that can be exacerbated by the low lying nature of the winter sun.
