Solar control window film was installed in a residential conservatory in Chichester, improving comfort by reducing heat and glare while maintaining clear views and natural light.

Requirement
The conservatory experienced high levels of solar gain due to its large glazed roof and upper perimeter panels. During warmer months, the space became uncomfortably hot, while strong sunlight created glare that affected seating and general usability.
The roof structure was formed from numerous triangular panes, making traditional shading solutions such as blinds difficult to install and visually intrusive. The homeowners wanted a solution that would:
-
Control heat build-up
-
Reduce glare
-
Retain the bright, open feel of the conservatory
-
Preserve outward views through the glass
-
Work effectively across complex glazing shapes

Solution
Climate 50 solar control window film was specified for both the glazed roof and the small perimeter panels at the top of the conservatory sides.
The film delivers strong solar performance while remaining optically clear, allowing natural daylight to enter and maintaining visibility of the sky and surroundings. By rejecting a significant portion of solar energy before it enters the space, the film helps stabilise temperatures and improve comfort throughout the day.
Because the glazing included multiple triangular roof sections, window film provided a far more practical and discreet solution than blinds or shading systems, ensuring full coverage without interrupting the architectural design.

Installation
The installation was completed in a single day by two installers to minimise disruption.
All glazing was thoroughly cleaned and prepared before application to ensure optimum adhesion and finish. The film was then carefully measured and precision-cut to fit the individual triangular panes forming the roof structure, as well as the smaller surrounding panels.
Particular care was taken to align edges and maintain consistency across the complex geometry of the conservatory roof, resulting in a clean, uniform appearance from both inside and outside.
