How does safety window film work?

Safety window film is designed to reinforce glass and control how it behaves under impact. If untreated glass breaks, fragments can detach from the frame and fall away, creating a hazard. Safety film bonds to the surface of the glazing and holds broken pieces together, significantly reducing the risk of injury.

Is safety window film the right solution?

The primary job of safety window film is to ensure that if glass does break, it does so safely.

Safety window film is ideal where glazing must meet impact safety requirements but full replacement is impractical or costly.

A cost effective solution for meeting legal requirements

In many commercial buildings, certain glazing areas must comply with impact safety standards. This typically includes glazing in doors, side panels and low level windows where the risk of accidental impact is higher.

Applying safety window film can upgrade existing glass to meet required standards, removing the need for expensive glazing replacement programmes.

Our team can advise on:

• Critical locations as defined in Approved Document K

• Suitable film thickness and specification
