Your window film questions, answered.

The cost of window film depends on several factors:

  1. The type of film selected — different films offer varying levels of heat reduction, privacy, safety, or decorative finish.
  2. The quantity required — larger projects may benefit from volume efficiencies and more cost-effective pricing per window or per m².
  3. Whether you choose supply-only (DIY installation) or professional installation by our team.

If installation is required, factors such as glass type, accessibility, and overall project scope can also influence the final cost.

We supply professional-grade window films designed for long-term performance, and all installations are carried out by experienced, accredited fitters, ensuring a high-quality finish and excellent long-term value.

For an accurate quotation tailored to your project, our team will be happy to help.

The cost of window film installation depends on several key factors, including:

  • The size and number of windows
  • The type of film selected (solar control, privacy, security, decorative, etc.)
  • The type of glass (single, double, triple glazing, Low-E, laminated, etc.)
  • Accessibility (height, restricted access, need for specialist equipment)
  • Your location and overall project scope

Once we understand these details, we can provide an accurate and tailored quotation.

All of our installations are carried out by fully trained and accredited fitters using high-quality, professional-grade films. We also provide ongoing communication throughout the project and carry out post-installation checks to ensure everything meets our standards.

The right option depends on your project, your DIY confidence, and the type of film being installed.

Many of the films available on our website can be installed using standard household tools, and we provide clear fitting guidance for each product to support confident DIY installation.

However, professional installation can offer additional reassurance — particularly for larger projects, difficult-to-access glazing, external applications, roof glazing, or specialist films such as safety, security, and high-performance solar control.

Our installers are fully accredited and undergo continuous training to ensure best practice at all times. We work across residential, commercial, and public-sector environments and are experienced in delivering installations in a wide range of settings.

If you're unsure which option is right for you, we’re always happy to talk through your project and help you make the best decision.

When correctly specified, window film is safe to use on double-glazed units.

Problems can occur if the wrong type of film is applied to the wrong type of glass, which is why we take care to recommend only films that are compatible with your glazing. One of the first things we establish is your glass specification, allowing us to suggest suitable options that minimise any risk.

We also provide a glass and film compatibility guide on our website and product pages to help customers choose the right film for their windows.

With the right product selection and professional guidance, window film can be installed on double glazing safely and effectively.

Window film is designed to provide long-term performance, but its lifespan depends on the type of film selected, whether it is installed internally or externally, and the environmental conditions to which it is exposed.

Internally applied films typically offer the longest lifespan, while externally installed films may have a shorter lifespan due to direct exposure to weather and other environmental factors.

Keeping your window film clean will help extend its lifespan and maintain its appearance. Cleaning is simple and can be done using standard, non-abrasive glass cleaning materials, along with following our aftercare guidance.

Most of our films are covered by a manufacturer’s warranty, the length and terms of which vary depending on the specific product selected.

While a small number of window films have little to no impact on the appearance of your glass, the way most films work means there will be some change in how the glass looks and how light passes through it.

Most window films will reduce the amount of light entering a space, but they are designed to maintain a light and comfortable interior environment rather than significantly darkening a room.

The exact change in light levels will depend on the film selected and the brightness outside. On sunny days, rooms will still feel light; the film simply helps reduce glare and excess heat rather than blocking natural light completely.

Light transmission figures are available for our films, and samples can be provided if you would like to see how a particular film performs before making a decision.

Yes, but it depends on the type of window film you choose.

One-way privacy films work by balancing light levels. During the day, when it is brighter outside than inside, they provide privacy from the outside. At night, when interior lights are on and it is darker outside, this effect is reversed, and visibility from outside can increase.

If you require privacy both day and night, a two-way privacy solution such as frosted or opaque film is the most suitable option. These films permanently obscure the view through the glass while still allowing light to pass through.

We offer a range of frosted and decorative privacy films, including options designed to replicate the appearance of sandblasted or etched glass, available in a variety of finishes and patterns.

The best film for reducing heat will depend on your glass type, the orientation of your windows, and how much visible change you are comfortable with.

In general, the highest-performing heat reduction films are reflective solar control films. These work by reflecting a significant percentage of the sun’s solar energy away from the glass before it enters the building, helping to reduce internal temperatures and improve comfort.

We also offer more neutral or lightly tinted films that provide strong heat reduction with a subtler appearance. Many of our solar control films also offer additional benefits, including glare reduction and up to 99% UV protection.

The most suitable option will depend on the balance you want between performance and appearance.

No - security window film does not make glass unbreakable. However, it is designed to make glass significantly harder to penetrate and to hold broken glass in place if it does break.

Security films are available in a range of thicknesses and are designed to:

  1. Increase resistance to impact – The added layer strengthens the glass, making it more difficult to break through in cases of accidental damage or attempted intrusion.
  2. Hold broken glass together – If the glass does break, the film helps keep fragments together, reducing the likelihood of immediate access and delaying unauthorised entry.
  3. Improve safety – By retaining broken glass within the frame, security film reduces the risk of falling shards and potential injury.

While security film enhances protection, it should be viewed as a measure that strengthens and delays, not as a substitute for reinforced or laminated security glazing.

We aim to schedule installations as quickly as possible once your order is confirmed.

Our installation teams operate nationwide, and as soon as your project is approved, our Operations Team will arrange a suitable installation date. If you have a specific timeframe in mind, we will always do our best to accommodate it.

Once your installation date is agreed, we will confirm the details in advance and provide a courtesy call the day before the work is due to take place.

During busier periods, particularly in the summer months, lead times may be slightly longer. However, we will always work with you to arrange a date that suits your schedule.

In many cases, we can provide an accurate quotation using the information supplied without needing to visit the site.

Where a project would benefit from a site visit, we will always advise accordingly. Surveys are typically arranged for larger, more complex, or specialist installations where seeing the glazing and environment first-hand helps ensure the most suitable solution is specified.

For established clients, repeat projects, or larger installations, surveys may be included as part of the overall service.

Our aim is always to recommend the most appropriate approach for the project while keeping the process as straightforward and efficient as possible.
