A retirement housing complex in Melksham, Wiltshire has been made more comfortable and practical for residents thanks to the installation of high performance glare reduction window film by The Window Film Company.
Climate 70 Window Film was installed across more than 80 panes throughout the building, helping to reduce glare, improve comfort and protect interiors from sun damage, while maintaining a bright and welcoming environment.

Tackling Glare in Bright Communal Spaces
Large areas of glazing within the complex allowed high levels of natural light into corridors and shared spaces. While this created a bright setting, it also led to excessive glare at certain times of day.
To address this, Climate 70 window film was carefully selected as the most suitable solution. Installed to the internal side of the glass by expert fitters, the film reduces glare by up to 21%, making spaces more comfortable for residents and staff, with a minimal impact on the appearance of the glass.

High Performance Without a Darkened Appearance
Climate 70 is part of a specialist range of solar control window films designed to deliver strong performance with a more neutral look.
This made it the ideal choice for the project, where maintaining natural light and a pleasant internal appearance was just as important as reducing glare. The lighter tint ensured that corridors remained bright, while still delivering effective solar control.
Different variations of the film are available with higher glare reduction levels, but the position and use of the windows in this building meant that Climate 70 provided the right balance.

Protecting Interiors from UV Damage
In addition to glare reduction, the film blocks up to 99% of harmful UV rays. This is significant because UV exposure is the main cause of fading in furnishings, flooring and décor.
By reducing UV transmission, the installation helps to extend the life of interior finishes and maintain the appearance of the building over time.

Professional Installation with Minimal Disruption
The installation was completed throughout the complex by The Window Film Company’s experienced team of fitters. Work was scheduled at a carefully agreed time to fit around other activity at the property, ensuring minimal disruption to residents.
The result is a simple but highly effective upgrade that improves day to day comfort, reduces glare and protects interiors, all without the need for costly window replacement.
