The Window Film Company has completed an application of heat reduction and privacy window film to over 550 panes of glass as part of a refurbishment project at the home of Avon and Somerset Police in Bath.
As part of an extensive renovation programme at the facility, window film was required for the large expanses of glazing, with a solution that would provide privacy alongside a reduction in excess heat and glare.
Each project The Window Film Company undertakes is assigned a dedicated Account Manager, who spends time with the client understanding the specific requirements and considerations of every job. After extensive discussions, it was agreed that the most appropriate film for this site would be High Reflective Silver.
High Reflective Silver is a high performance solar control window film that serves to reject excess heat, significantly cut glare and reduce UV rays by up to 99%. The heat reduction is achieved by the reflective appearance of the film bouncing away a percentage of heat before it is allowed to pass through glass and add to the internal temperature. High Reflective Silver can reject up to 78% of solar energy in this way.
Once in place the film will also cut out the harshest of sunlight, reducing glare by up to 79%. Glare can be a significant issue, all year-round in buildings with numerous or large windows, with the changing position of the sun and the subsequent angle of light making it uncomfortable to focus. Glare reduction window film from The Window Film Company will, simply put, act like a pair of light sunglasses for your glazing, cutting out harsh light without blocking the view.
In addition to these benefits, High Reflective Silver also provides effective one-way daytime privacy. During daylight hours, the external; facing side of the film takes on a mirrored, reflective appearance, serving to prevent a view from the outside in. This is achieved without blocking the view from the inside, maintaining vision out for those inside the building.
Film was required for over 560 panes of glass, totalling more than 370 square metres of glazing. The majority of the window film was applied to the internal face of the glass – this delivers the longest possible life for the film as it isn’t exposed to the elements – but in certain locations access to the inside of the glass wasn’t possible. For these parts of the installation, access equipment was required, with The Window Film Company’s expert installers utilising a cherry picker and scaffold towers to reach the glass. For these panes, a specialist external grade of High Reflective Silver was used.
The scale of the project meant that the work was completed over a series of visits, with the timings and access equipment arranged by The Window Film Company’s Operations Team, working closely with the client throughout. Due to the size and complexity of the overall refurbishment programme, working collaboratively with the client was essential.
Once in place, the heat and glare reduction window film was effective immediately, delivering high performance levels alongside a sleek, stylish and professional appearance.
