Solar Control Window Film Solves Conservatory Heat Problems in Chichester

A large conservatory in Chichester, West Sussex, has been upgraded with heat reduction window film by The Window Film Company to solve overheating problems during warmer weather.

The conservatory featured large areas of glass and a substantial glazed roof lantern, which allowed high levels of heat to build up during hotter spells of weather. On sunny days, solar energy would stream through the expanses of glass and internal temperatures would quickly become uncomfortable, making the space difficult to enjoy.

The customer required a solution that would reduce heat and glare without making the conservatory feel darker or blocking the daytime view from inside the property. Maintaining decent levels of natural light was also a key priority.

Following an assessment of the glazing, Climate 50 solar control window film was selected as the most suitable option. Part of the specialist Climate range, the film is designed to deliver high performance solar heat reduction while still allowing good levels of visible light transmission.

Installed directly onto the existing glazing by one of The Window Film Company’s experienced fitting teams, the film immediately began improving comfort levels throughout the conservatory.

Climate 50 window film delivers the following performance levels:

  • Total Solar Energy Rejected: 62%
  • Glare Reduction: 43%
  • UV Light Rejected: 99%

By rejecting 62% of total solar energy, the film helps keep the conservatory significantly cooler during sunny conditions. The reduction in glare also creates a more comfortable environment for relaxing, dining and entertaining.

The film blocks 99% of harmful UV light, helping protect furnishings, fabrics and flooring from fading caused by prolonged sun exposure.

Importantly, these benefits are achieved without heavily reducing natural daylight or affecting the clear outward view that makes the conservatory such an attractive living space.

Because the film was installed onto the existing glass, the project provided a cost effective alternative to other methods such as air conditioning or blinds, while delivering immediate improvements in comfort and usability.

The completed installation demonstrates how modern solar control window film can transform conservatories and glazed extensions that suffer from overheating, excessive glare and high UV exposure.
