Easy Installation

Here at The Window Film Company we understand that one of the things that you might be unsure of when it comes to window film is the fitting process. Well, we’re pleased to be able to tell (and show!) you not to worry. Fitting your film is a straightforward task, requiring nothing more than a few standard household items…

Our window film hasn’t only been designed to be long lasting and lovely to look at. It’s also been specially developed to make it durable and easy to fit. If you’ve decided on the film you’d like, then don’t delay – here’s what you’ll need to achieve a perfect installation.

To begin, clean your window as thoroughly as you can. Simply put, the cleaner your glass, the better your installation will be. Once you are satisfied that your window is as free from dirt as possible, create a soapy water solution by adding a few drops of washing up liquid to a plant spray bottle full of water. Use the spray bottle to cover the window with soapy water; don’t be shy – the entirety of the pane should be covered!

Next, remove the backing sheet from your window film. If you find it hard to take off the backing sheet, try using two pieces of masking tape attached to each side of the film, to separate it from the film. With the backing sheet removed, use the plant spray bottle to completely cover the exposed side of the film with soapy water (again, don’t be afraid to using too much water – the whole surface of the film should be coated in the solution) before taking the film to the glass and allowing it to flow into place.

With the film in the correct position, use the plastic application squeegee (supplied free of charge with each order) to push the water to the edge of the frame, using a clean dry cloth to mop up the excess moisture. Hey presto – you’ve fitted your film!
