MAKING A MARK WITH BESPOKE MANIFESTATION

Manifestation markings are required under building regulation for a very simple reason – to ensure glass is safe! The regulations apply to glazing over a certain size and is usually required for glass partitions, doors or other full length glazing, with the primary function of the markings to make sure that the glass is easy visible. 

These markings must meet a number of stipulations. Firstly, they must provide a contrast with the background, thus ensuring that they are easily seen. Secondly, they must be of a minimum size, while finally, depending on the size of the pane, they must appear at two specific heights on the glass. All of this is designed to make sure that floor to ceiling glass can quickly be identified by the naked eye, preventing people from walking into it and sustaining injury.

As long as the above stipulations are met, manifestation markings can take on any appearance. This provides the opportunity to get creative, with many of The Window Film Company’s clients choosing to use manifestation markings to add eye-catching graphics or branding elements to their glass. That was the choice made by the owners of this office space, choosing to incorporate a repeated logo into their manifestation solution.

It was agreed that the logos should be cut out of a strip of Frostbrite frosted window film running horizontally across the glazing. Frostbrite frosted window film is the perfect choice for manifestation as  the appearance (frosted window film from The Window Film Company gives glass the appearance of acid-etched or sandblasted glass) delivers the necessary contrasting look between the glass and the background, and can also be cut or printed onto to deliver the exact finish that the client requires.

On this occasion, the repeated logo was cut from the film using state of the art computer cutting equipment, before being installed by a team of The Window Film Company’s experienced fitting crews.

Once in place, the film delivered all the requirements of manifestation markings, while also giving the office a stylish new look throughout.
