TRANSFORMATION AT THE TRANSPORT BRIDGE

The Window Film Company use state of the art printers to create eye-catching, full colour solutions for glass, with this project, at the Tees Transporter Bridge Visitor Centre, providing a perfect example of how impressive printed window film can look and the impact it can have.

The full colour, bespoke prints were required as part of an upgrade to the Visitor Centre at the Tees Transporter Bridge, near Middlesbrough. The bridge has taken on an iconic status in the area since opening in 1911 and is the longest working transporter bridge in the world. When the operators of the facility wanted to add unique, bespoke decoration to the glass in a section of the centre, they contacted renowned illustrator, creator, designer and artist Andy O’Rourke.

Andy has been designing and creating eye-catching and original artworks and sculptures for over two decades, with his work adorning locations across the globe. Having designed the artwork for the display at the Visitor Centre, he got in touch with The Window Film Company to discuss recreating it on a suitable material that would deliver the desired vivid finish.

It was agreed that the design would be printed onto Frostbrite frosted window film. As the name suggests, Frostbrite gives glazing the appearance of frosted glass and is long lasting and durable – perfect for use in a busy location such as this. It also provides the ideal surface on which to print in full colour.

To ensure the designs were recreated in the bright, striking way in which they were intended, The Window Film Company’s design team worked with Andy to get the perfect finish, utilising print technology to add extra elements and shades of colour during the double-strike printing process.

As for the finished appearance, we think the photos say it all! A stunning, original and striking addition to a popular and important location.
