Multi-purpose manifestation

Manifestation is required by law for glass of a certain size. The markings are necessary under building regulations to ensure that large panes of glass are clearly visible, preventing accidents. This project saw a requirement for manifestation in the gym of a residential complex in Birmingham, with a multi-purpose solution delivering the manifestation requirement as well as an element of privacy and a stylish and impactful decorative addition.

 Part 1 - Manifestation

 The building Regulations 2000 Part M require that glass of a certain size (usually full length, floor to ceiling panes and panels) require markings at two levels; between 850mm and 1000mm and between 1400mm and 1600mm above the floor, with the markings contrasting visually with the background. Frostbrite frosted window film is the perfect product for meeting these requirements, with the frosted appearance of the glass, delivering a clearly visible yet stylish marking. On this occasion it was agreed that the film would take the form of a solid band, thus meeting both location requirements.

 Part 2 - Privacy

As the area in question was a gym facility, it was agreed that an element of privacy would be a welcome addition, another aspect that could be fulfilled by the solid band of Frostbite window film. Once applied, frosted film gives glass the appearance of acid etched or sandblasted glazing, blocking the view from both sides without stopping natural light. This makes it a hugely popular and effective privacy solution.

 Part 3 - Graphics

The final element of the project was the inclusion of bespoke printed graphics, required to provide a decorative finish. The graphics, a combination of icons and wording, were provided by the client and printed onto the Frostbrite film by The Window Film Company’s in-house print and design team.

Once installed by a team of The Window Film Company’s fully qualified fitting teams, the bespoke film gave the premises a stylish, professional and welcoming look, while also delivering privacy and meeting manifestation requirements.
