What is window film?
Window film from The Window Film Company is available in a range of appearances and finishes, to meet a range of different needs and requirements. The film is a high quality, durable and stylish looking product that is designed to be retro fitted to glass in the home or the workplace. It can be fitted on a DIY basis, with the full range of window films for the home available online.
How do I fit window tint for the home?
Start by thoroughly cleaning the window to ensure no dirt or residue interferes with the window film installation. Once the glass is clean, remove the backing sheet from the film and spray the exposed side with a soapy water solution made from a few drops of washing-up liquid and water in a spray bottle. Spray the window pane as well.
With both surfaces wet, place the film onto the glass and slide it into position. Use the supplied plastic applicator to push excess moisture to the edges, then wipe away any remaining water with a clean cloth.
Every order includes printed fitting instructions, along with easy-to-follow step-by-step window film fitting video guides on each product page. For large windows, we recommend fitting with two people or using The Window Film Company’s professional installation service.

What can I acheive by fitting window film in my home?
By window filming or tinting your home, you can improve privacy and reduce heat. Reflective window film provides daytime one-way privacy, while frosted window film offers 24-hour two-way privacy, all without significantly reducing natural light.
Frosted films can also replicate the look of acid-etched or sandblasted glass for a modern finish. In addition, window tinting helps control indoor temperatures by reflecting solar energy, reducing heat build-up while maintaining clear views and natural light indoors.

Excess heat is a common issue in both residential and commercial buildings, caused by solar energy passing through glazing and raising indoor temperatures. This can make living and working spaces uncomfortable. Traditional solutions like blinds and curtains are often ineffective, as they still allow heat through the glass while blocking light and views.
Solar control window film provides a cost-effective alternative to air conditioning, reflecting excess solar energy before it enters a property. It helps maintain a comfortable temperature without making interiors feel cold and is available in a range of finishes for internal or external installation. The film can also be combined with other options, such as security films, for added long-term benefits.
