Fading and UV damage can be an expensive and damaging issue. If left unchecked, sunlight can stream through windows and glazing, causing damage to flooring, furnishings and other belongings with the effects of fading often not apparent until it is too late.
Fading is caused by a combination of three main factors; heat, light and UV rays. it’s the latter, the sun’s UV rays that are the biggest contributing factor, so filtering out as much of this light as possible is an excellent way of slowing down and disrupting the fading process.
An application of one of The Window Film Company’s solar control window films will block up to 99% of the potentially harmful rays, serving to help protect your interior. It’s important to note that the only way to completely stop fading is to also block heat and light, something that is not easy, nor preferable, so please do consider this when dealing with any fading issues. If you buy your UV protection window film for DIY installation, your order will come complete with printed fitting instructions and a free application squeegee to help with the install process. We also recommend that you take the time to view the step by step video fitting instructions, located at the bottom of each product page.
Installing your film can be undertaken with no prior fitting experience and using nothing more than a few standard household items. The first part of the fitting process is to clean your window. Please be as thorough as you can - the cleaner your windows the easier and better the fitting will be. Once you have cleaned your glass, create a soapy water solution by adding a few drops of washing up liquid to a plant spray bottle. Use the spray bottle to cover the window entirely with the soapy water. next, remove the backing sheet from the film and use the plant spray bottle to cover the exposed surface of the film.
Next, carefully take the film to the window and let it flow into position. The soapy water will create a slip solution, allowing you to move the film into exactly the right location before using the application squeegee to push the moisture to the edge of the pane. Use a clean, dry cloth to mop up any remaining water and your install is complete!
