The Window Film Company completed a large-scale installation of heat reduction window film at the renowned Lowry Hotel in Manchester. Applied across the extensive south-facing elevation, the solution was designed to reduce excess heat, minimise glare and protect interiors from harmful UV rays, while maintaining clear outward views for guests and staff.
Requirement
The Lowry Hotel required an effective way to address excess heat and glare caused by direct sunlight entering through its large glazed areas. High internal temperatures can affect guest comfort and increase reliance on air conditioning systems, while prolonged UV exposure can contribute to the fading and deterioration of interior furnishings.
The hotel needed a solution that would improve comfort throughout the building without obstructing views from the inside out.
Solution
The Window Film Company recommended and installed High Reflective Silver heat reduction window film throughout the affected glazing.
This specialist solar control film reflects a significant proportion of the sun's heat before it passes through the glass, helping to maintain a more comfortable indoor environment. It also reduces harsh sunlight and glare, improving occupant comfort throughout the year.
Unlike curtains or blinds, which block natural light and external views, the window film allows occupants to retain a clear view outside while benefiting from enhanced solar control.
