Requirement
The office in Clerkenwell experienced two separate glazing challenges.
Externally, strong daylight entering through rows of multi-pane windows was creating glare on desks and seating areas, making screens difficult to use and reducing comfort for staff.
Internally, new meeting rooms required privacy. The glazing formed part of the overall office design, so any solution needed to maintain openness while preventing direct visibility into meeting spaces.
Solution
For the external glazing, Optiview 15 dual reflective solar control film was specified. The film delivers a mirrored external appearance for maximum solar performance, while maintaining a neutral tinted internal finish with low reflectivity.
Because the windows were arranged in rows of individual panes, the film was applied selectively only to the sections responsible for glare, ensuring a targeted and visually balanced result.
For internal meeting rooms, a bespoke privacy solution was created using a printed frosted colour applied to clear window film. The central row of glazing was fully covered to block direct views, while the upper row received partial coverage to retain openness and introduce a subtle design feature across the glass partitions.
Installation
The Window Film Company carried out the installation in two stages to suit the workspace and minimise disruption.
External glazing was carefully prepared and the Optiview 15 film installed to selected panes, ensuring consistent alignment across the multi-panel window layout and maintaining a uniform appearance from both inside and outside.
Internally, the printed frosted film was precision-applied to meeting room glazing. The contrast between full and partial coverage created a clean, intentional design line running through the office, enhancing both privacy and aesthetics.
