CLIMATE CONTROL

The Window Film Company supplies and installs a range of highly effective heat reduction window films, suitable for use in residential and commercial premises.

Excess heat can be a major issue during warmer months, especially for properties with large expanses of glass or numerous windows. Traditional methods of blocking heat have included drawing blinds (or curtains) or trying to combat the high temperatures by using air conditioning systems. Both solutions have drawbacks. Curtains and blinds not only block the view from the inside out, but they also allow heat to pass through the glass – simply serving to trap it inside. Air conditioning is effective in terms of controlling the internal temperature, but systems can be expensive to run and damaging to the environment.

Window film from The Window Film Company delivers high levels of heat reduction without any of these issues, which is why it was chosen as a solution throughout a stunning home in Oxfordshire.

Solar control window film works by bouncing away a percentage of the sun’s solar energy before it can pass through the glass and add to the internal temperature. This is achieved by a reflective appearance, which is present on the exterior face of the film during daylight hours.

The film chosen for this installation was Climate 50. The Climate range has been specially developed to deliver a slightly more neutral appearance when in place, delivering a solar energy rejection figure of up to 62%. This film also reduces glare by up to 43% while blocking up to 99% of the sun’s potentially damaging UV rays – the biggest single contributor to fading.

The film was applied to a number of large windows and rooflights throughout the property by a team of The Window Film Company’s expert fitters. Once in place, the film was effective immediately, providing solar control, year-round glare reduction and protection from UV rays – all without sacrificing the view from the inside out or blocking unnecessary levels of natural daylight.
