SOLVING THE MONKEY PUZZLE

Whilst windows provide a welcome source of natural light, they can also provide passers-by with a view to the inside of premises – a view that is sometimes unwelcome or inappropriate. On these occasions, privacy is required and with Frostbrite frosted window film, The Window Film Company has a stylish and effective answer.

Monkey Puzzle is a successful chain of day nurseries, with locations throughout the country. They provide children with a safe environment in which to learn and play, and part of the commitment includes ensuring that where appropriate, the children and staff enjoy a level of privacy. With one of the locations needing the internal view obscuring, The Window Film Company were approached to help.

The nursery had 22 windows that required privacy, with the brief to block the view whilst having as small an impact on the natural light levels as possible. The final part of the brief was to incorporate the Monkey Puzzle branding into the solution. With a full understanding of the requirements, it was possible to recommend Frostbrite frosted film.

Once applied, the film gives glazing the appearance of acid-etched or sandblasted film, in turn preventing vision from both sides of the glass. Whilst the film is an excellent way of blocking the view, it is specifically designed not to block the light, resulting in excellent levels of natural light transmission. Frostbrite film can also be printed onto or cut, to create graphics, designs or logos within the film.

Having received samples of the film it was agreed that Frostbrite was the appropriate solution and that on certain panes the Monkey Puzzle logo would be cut from the film to deliver an added element of interest whilst also helping to incorporate branding throughout the premises.

The artwork was supplied by the nursery and proofs created by The Window Film Company’s in-house graphics and print team. With the proofs agreed, the film was computer cut to deliver a precision reproduction of the logo, before being hand finished and checked to ensure the best possible finish ahead of installation.

The fitting date was agreed between the nursery and The Window Film Company’s operations team, the time and date specifically agreed to ensure that any disruption to the nursery was kept to an absolute minimum. Once installed, the privacy was effective immediately, with the contemporary appearance and added branding ensuring a professional, stylish but also welcoming environment.
