MAGENTA MANIFESTATION

May 02 2014

Manifestation is required on glass of a specific size, in specific locations. Manifestation is used to make the glass visible, thus preventing accidents.

The legislation surrounding manifestation requires a strict set of criteria to be be met. Usually, manifestation is required at two different heights. Between 850mm and 1000mm above the ground and also 1400mm and 1600mm from floor level. The manifestation should take the form of a logo or symbol at least 150mm high, or a decorative feature such as a continuous band, at least 50mm high.

The legislation outlines a minimum requirement that must be adhered to, but there is plenty of scope for creating imaginative and visually impressive manifestation that is tailor made for your particular surroundings, allowing manifestation to be a necessary but welcome addition to glass.

With an extensive office refurbishment programme underway, Kier Group PLC required manifestation as part of the fit-out process. The team responsible for the design of the building had identified a barcode-style design that they wanted replicated to meet manifestation requirements. The size of the design was such that it met both height requirements, so all was left was to agree on a design and colour.

The design was supplied to The Window Film Company, who were able to confirm that by using computer cutting techniques, they could recreate the barcode design. Coloured vinyl is a popular choice for manifestation as the range of vibrant colours provide a strong contrast with the glass - an important requirement of manifestation.

The Window Film Company stock a wide range of coloured vinyls, with a broad spectrum of colours available to choose from. A colour swatch was sent to the designers responsible for the fit-out and they were able to select a magenta vinyl that complimented the other design elements throughout the new office.

With the material and design agreed upon, The Window Film Company’s design and print team got to work. A proof was supplied for final sign-off, and once agreed the computer cutting process began, with state of the art equipment ensuring a perfect recreation of the required design.

With creation of the manifestation complete, it was fitted by one of The Window Film Company’s fully trained teams of installers to fit the vinyl at the Company’s Bedfordshire Headquarters. The installation took place on a date agreed between The Window Film Company’s Operations Team - a team dedicated to organising the logistics of each job - and Kier, with the installation carried out quickly and efficiently, to allow the fit-out to continue on time and to deadline.

The finished product is an eye-catching design that meets legislative requirements, whilst also adding an extra element of design to the internal glass within the office.

This is another example of how the functional and necessary can also be an aesthetically pleasing design feature. For more details on how The Window Film Company can help you deliver an attractive solution to a functional requirement, please contact one of our friendly team on 01494 794477 today.
