THE WINDOW FILM COMPANY HELPS PROTECT NATIONAL TREASURE

Apr 24 2012

One of the most famous exhibits at The Tower of London is the Crown Jewels, which feature some of the world’s largest and most interesting gems including the largest flawless cut diamond in the world. Whilst the jewels are guarded by Yeomen Warders, better known as Beefeaters, they do need further protection, which is where The Window Film Company was able to help. By applying Clear UV film to the casing containing part of the exhibit, the contents are now protected from the effects of constant exposure to bright light, with fading the primary concern.

Often referred to as ‘museum film’ Clear UV blocks up to 99.8% of UV rays, whilst its clear, see through appearance means it is perfect for use on exhibits, shop fronts and glazing that requires a minimal aesthetic change. The professional installation from our team of fitters means that the Crown Jewels are now protected, whilst the millions of visitors can still enjoy unobstructed view of the priceless exhibits
.
Elsewhere in the Tower, The Window Film Company fitted security film which serves to strengthen glazing against both accidental and wilful damage. On this occasion, the security film was supplemented by an additional layer - a red coloured film from our rainbow range of films.

The films in this range are translucent, allowing you to change the colour of glass whilst maintaining two way vision. As with the job at The Tower of London, the film can be applied to an existing layer of film to combine glass decoration with functionality – another example of the versatility of window film.

Whilst you may not have anything quite as valuable as the Crown jewels at home or in your office, we know how precious your valuables are, so if you would like more information about how to protect your belongings by applying window film, please get in touch by calling 01494 794477. Our friendly team of experts will be happy to help.
