TARTAN IS THE TOPS

Atmosphere and ambience is almost as important to top level restaurants as the food they serve, so getting the décor just right is vital to any new venue. The Window Film Company were therefore delighted to be able to help out at a new London establishment, owned by one of the world’s most famous chefs.

Applying a window film to glass is a cost efficient and hugely effective way of transforming the look and feel of a room, and is becoming increasingly popular as an interior decoration tool. The ability of The Window Film Company to print onto a range of window films makes it possible to create bespoke designs, that once applied will immediately transform the appearance of the glass.

This London based restaurant needed a product that would provide an element of privacy as well as providing a decorative function, and they were able to provide a striking tartan design from which the film would be created. After discussions with the client, it was agreed that the design would be printed onto Frostbrite frosted film. Frosted film provides two-way privacy without sacrificing natural light, is long lasting and durable, and can also be printed onto.

The artwork was scaled and prepared by The Window Film Company’s in-house graphics team, who also undertook experimentation in varying levels of opacity as work continued on getting the finish absolutely perfect for the client. The brief was for the delivery of a rich, deep colour reproduction so a ‘double strike’ print method was employed – in effect each colour was printed twice to give the bold, vivid finish that was required.

After several proofs, the design and print was approved and the full size panels were printed and cut at The Window Film Company’s Buckinghamshire headquarters before being sent out for installation.

Fitting was undertaken by one of The Window Film Company’s experienced installation teams, who provide a nationwide fitting service. Their attention to detail, training and vast experience allowed them to fit the film perfectly, with the minimum of fuss and intrusion – vital as work to finish the restaurant was continuing around them.

The end result is an impressive addition to the restaurant, the bespoke design and attractive colours instantly adding to the stylish feel of the venue. In addition to the aesthetic improvement, the film also provided the required privacy and the long-lasting, durable nature of the film combined with the expert installation means that it will serve its purpose for as long as required.
