THE WINDOW FILM COMPANY LEND A HELPING HANS

Jan 10 2014

The Window Film Company is proud to have helped add an extra dimension to an exciting new exhibition in London. In supplying and installing precision cut vinyl, the third part of a multi-media display of the work of Hans Arp was completed.

The exhibition, which will run at the Hauser & Wirth gallery in London for over two months at the start of 2014, is dedicated to a rarely seen series of sculptures created by Hans Arp and will be supplemented with recordings of his poetry being broadcast throughout the gallery. The third aspect of the exhibition is a wall display of a number of his poems, reproduced in English and German, and this is where The Window Film Company was engaged to help.

After an initial consultation, it was agreed that the text should be reproduced in matt black vinyl. This solid colour was chosen to provide the maximum contrast with the wall, making the text easy to read whilst creating a feature of the poems in their own right.

Over 29 panels were required, with the intricate text computer cut at The Window Film Company’s Buckinghamshire headquarters. Once cut, the panels were carefully weeded by hand, a painstaking process that saw the unnecessary pieces of film removed, leaving just the text ready for installation.

The installation was carried out by one of The Window Film Company’s expert fitting teams, their experience and attention to detail allowing them to fit the vinyl to the high standards required by the gallery, ahead of the exhibition launch.

The durable nature of the film means it will retain its vivid colour and will remain firmly in place throughout the exhibition, whilst the adhesive used in the product will also allow for a straightforward removal at the end of the exhibition, meaning the vinyl text can be removed without doing any damage to the paintwork.

As well as computer cutting film, The Window Film Company can also digitally print onto a range of films to recreate designs of every conceivable complexity and size, enabling the application of bespoke window film to windows, glass partitions, walls and other surfaces. The Hans Arp exhibition is open to the public from 10 January – 1 March 2014.
