It’s an unfortunate fact of life that business premises can be targeted by criminals, with
break-ins and criminal damage a serious and concerning issue. Windows can often be seen as a weak point, with the glass broken to gain entry. With a range of specialist security films available, The Window Film Company can help make glazing both safe and secure.

After suffering a number of break-ins, a London based architect contacted The Window Film for help and advice. Access had been gained via the windows, and a solution was required to prevent further incidents. Security film is available in a number of grades and thicknesses, and by providing an added layer to the glass, makes it harder to break.

Security film cannot guarantee that glass won’t eventually fracture under sustained attack, but it will make it harder to compromise and in the event of breakage, will hold the glass together making it difficult to remove from the frame and to gain unlawful access. The combination of making glass tougher to break, harder to remove alongside the additional time and effort required to overcome these hurdles make security window film a valuable and effective deterrent to criminal activity.

Whilst safety and security film is available in different thicknesses (ranging from standard safety film to bomb-blast protection film) it can also be applied in conjunction with other films to achieve additional benefits such as privacy.

Frostbrite frosted window film provides glazing with the appearance of acid etched or sandblasted glass, which serves to prevent vision from both sides of the glass which makes it a stylish, contemporary privacy solution. After discussions with the client, it was agreed that an application of Frostbrite in conjunction with 200 Micron security film would provide the most appropriate solution – the high performance security film providing an added layer of strength to the glass, with the frosted film providing privacy.

The two layers of film were installed by one of The Window Film Company’s teams of expert fitters who were also engaged to remove a quantity of existing but ineffective film.The film was installed to the internal face of the glass, with the fitting process completed with the minimum of fuss and disruption to what is a busy practice. The film is effective immediately, providing peace of mind for the owners, and welcome privacy for those working within the building.
