PROVIDING PRIVACY CHOICES

The Window Film Company offer a range of specialist privacy films, available in different grades and finishes ensuring a solution for every situation.  When approached to provide privacy film for a large building in Hatfield, The Window Film Company were charged with coming up with two different suggestions to meet two different requirements.

Privacy is required for a number of reasons;  to protect expensive equipment, to stop passers by being able to see into a place of work, for meeting rooms of for other sensitive locations. Often however, it is desirable to block the view from the external side of the glass whilst maintaining the view from the inside out. This was the situation with a large swathe of windows at this modern building. It was important to block the view in, but for the enjoyment and comfort of those inside the building, it was important to maintain both a view to the exterior, as well as allowing for a good deal of natural light.

The Window Film Company’s range of reflective films are an excellent solution for one-way privacy and it was one such film that was agreed on for application to almost 40 large windows. The film works on the light balance, with the side of the film exposed to the brighter light (always the exterior during daylight hours) providing a reflective, mirrored appearance that prevents vision through the glass. The view from the interior is maintained, with high levels of natural light to pass through maintaining a pleasant environment for those inside the building.

The reflective range of films also provide additional benefits including glare and fade mitigation, and help to maintain a moderate temperature during the summer months by rejecting excess solar energy – factors that all impact on the comfort of those using the building.

A further 30 large windows also required privacy, but these panes required two-way privacy, with the view obscured from both sides. The Window Film Company’s Frostbrite range of frosted films are a hugely popular choice for privacy, with the film giving glazing a sand-blasted or acid etched appearance. Once applied vision is obscured from both sides of the glass, whilst the glazing is given an elegant, professional looking finish. By applying frosted film it is possible to deliver privacy with both elegance and style, and it was agreed that this film would be fitted to the remaining glazing.

The building is a large one, and the windows of a reasonable size. In addition, many of the windows were at height and inaccessible from the ground. The Window Film Company’s teams of installers are fully PASMA trained and vastly experienced in working at height and on this occasion employed a 4 metre tower to reach the windows and fit the film.

Once complete, privacy was ensured wherever necessary, with the stylish finish delivering a look and feel in keeping with the buildings sleek and modern appearance.
