PICTURE IN PICTURE

It’s often said that a picture is worth a thousand words, so we’d be keen to know how that saying is applied to this spectacular print and install project, which comprised countless tiny images, combined to create one large, eye-catching illustration.

The computer game industry is one of the biggest in the world, with new technology being used to create increasingly impressive products for gamers of all ages. The Window Film Company was engaged to print and install a range of suitably impressive graphics for a multinational games publisher and media company, adding a bespoke scheme to their Berkshire based office.

The centrepiece of the installation was a scene from one of the Company’s popular games, recreated by creating a mosaic, made up of thousands of individual stills from other parts of the same game. The graphic was to be reproduced over a total of floor to ceiling eight panes, with a total width of eight metres.

With the job comprising several other graphical elements, all designed to flow across multiple panes of glass, a site survey was undertaken to ensure that each measurement was completely accurate, giving The Window Film Company’s in-house graphics team all the information required to set up and create each panel.

The graphics team worked closely with the client to ensure the best possible finish. Several samples were created and analysed, using different colour levels to deliver the most impactful finish. Several permutations were explored before settling on the correct levels, with a double strike print technique employed to ensure an appearance befitting of such a striking project.

In total, over 35 linear metres of graphics were printed and installed, the fitting carried out by a team of The Window Film Company’s fully trained installers. The work was carried out on a Saturday, ensuring the minimum of disruption to an incredibly busy office.
