EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE FOR KIERAN

Jan 20 2017

Here at The Window Film Company we recognise the importance of the next generation and understand the importance of providing them with the tools, knowledge and understanding required to make a success of their future endeavours. With this in mind, it was our pleasure to welcome our first work experience placement during January 2017.

The visit came as a result of a relationship with Amersham and Wycombe College, a Further Education College based near The Window Film Company’s HQ in Buckinghamshire. The Window Film Company had previously helped with the delivering of a number of enterprise events which comprised talks from successful business owners and entrepreneurs, and a work experience placement was identified as another appropriate way of providing support.

Kieran Baldwin is studying a Level 3 BTEC in Information Technology and he joined the marketing team at The Window Film Company’s head office. We asked him to share his thoughts on the experience in his own words:

“The work I carried out was both interesting and challenging, and I quickly learned the value of marketing. The range of products the company offers was much wider than I had originally thought and I was amazed by the variety on offer. I got the chance to fit a piece of film myself and it was definitely easier than I thought it was going to be!

I learned the value of teamwork as well as the importance of discipline and multi-tasking; prioritising was important as there was always more than one task that needed completing. The week helped with my self-confidence and I’m happy The Window Film Company took me on. I was encouraged and made welcome the whole way; I was able to feel comfortable in the work place very early on and at the end of the week I was disappointed to leave!”

In speaking about the week, Marketing Manager Mike Parkin said:

“It was a pleasure to have Kieran join us for the week. He was a credit to himself and the College, setting about the work he was asked to do in an impressive and professional manner. We asked him carry out new tasks in an area in which he had no prior knowledge, and his attitude to learning and then delivering was first class throughout.

It’s a privilege to have the opportunity to assist local students in their progression and I hope Kieran found the experience valuable. As a Company we’re committed to helping to lending our support to the community in as many ways as possible and I look forward to welcoming further students to The Window Film Company”
