MASTERS OF MANIFESTATION

The Window Film Company are experts in the creation and installation of manifestation markings for glass; a safety feature required under building regulations to prevent glazing-related accidents.

You have probably seen manifestation markings without realizing what they are or why they are required. From a visual point of view they can take many different forms, but the requirement is the same – to ensure glass is clearly visible to the naked eye and to in turn avoid accidents.

Manifestation regulations dictate that on glass of a certain size (usually glass partitions, doors or full length windows) markings should be applied to the glass at two different points – between 850mm and 1000m, and also between 1400mm and 1600mm from above floor level. The regulations don’t dictate what material glass manifestation markings should bee made from, but they must provide a clearly visible contrast between the glass and the background.

The Window Film Company have been creating and installing manifestation for glass since being founded in 1998, with experience in fitting standard bands and dots as well as the production and installation of eye-catching, bespoke solutions featuring graphics, logos and other designs. Regardless of the finished appearance, one of the most popular window films or use as manifestation is Frostbrite frosted window film.

Once applied Frostbrited frosted film gives glazing the appearance of sandblasted or acid etched glass. This makes it a great privacy solution, but also means it is ideal for manifestation markings; the frost effect providing the necessary contrast with the background along with a stylish, contemporary finish.

Frostbrite frosted film is also incredibly durable, meaning it provides a perfect surface on which to print, while it can also be cut to create stylish shapes and designs. For this manifestation project, installed to an office complex in London, it was agreed that Frostbrite would be used, cut by the Window Film Company’s in-house print and graphics team to feature nine solid bands, decreasing in size as they move up the pane.

The film was precision cut by The Window Film Company’s in-house graphics team, who used state of the art computer cutting equipment to ensure a perfect finish. The film was then checked by hand before being installed by a team of The Window Film Company’s fully qualified and hugely experienced fitting teams.

The finished product is a stylish addition to the glass, serving to ensure the glazing met manifestation regulations while also creating a pleasing feature on the full-length panes.
