MANIFESTATION, PRIVACY AND HEAT REDUCTION

Window film and printed graphics from The Window Film Company can be used to provide solutions to a wide range of issues, as illustrated by the completion of a recent project in Greater London, with window film used to deliver privacy, glare reduction, solar control and manifestation markings.

The Window Film Company were contacted by the owners of a large office in London, requiring solutions to a number of glass related issues. The first issue was the replacing of existing, outdated manifestation markings, with the aim being to replace the markings with a more stylish finish, that also offered a degree of privacy.

Manifestation markings are required to make large panes of glass easily distinguishable, in doing so avoiding potentially dangerous accidents. The markings are required by building regulations, which provide details on the required location and minimum sizing. While manifestation is obligatory for glass of a certain size, it also provides an opportunity to add an extra dimension to glass, giving panes a stylish new look while also adding other benefits, and this was an opportunity the client was keen to take.

On this occasion, it was agreed that the manifestation would take the form of a printed band of Frostbrite frosted film, running through the centre of the glass paneling and partitions throughout the office. By adding this to the glazing, manifestation requirements were met, a stylish new look was assured and an element of privacy was also delivered. The privacy was created by using Frostbrite frosted film – a long lasting, durable film that gives glass the appearance of sandblasted or acid etched glazing once in place. It also provides the ideal surface on which to print, allowing The Window Film Company’s in-house print and graphics team to print the chosen graphics directly onto the film.

In addition to the manifestation requirement, a film to combat the combined issues of excess heat and glare was also sought. The office benefits from several large glass windows which serve to provide a contemporary appearance while also excellent levels of natural sunlight to pass through the glass and into the office. Left untreated however, large windows can result in a build up of excess heat during warmer months with glare creating an uncomfortable internal environment all year round. High Reflective Window Film from The Window Film Company can address both issues, rejecting up to 78% of excess heat and reducing glare by up to 79%.

Once in place, the film has a stylish mirrored external appearance during daylight hours, while still allowing from a view from the inside out. This means that the film is also suitable for creating a daytime privacy solution, while also giving glass a sleek and modern finish.

Both film types were fitted throughout the premises by a team of The Window Film Company’s experienced installers, stripping the existing manifestation and replacing it with smart new Frostbrite bands, before applying High Reflective Silver heat and glare reduction film to a separate area of the office.
