STYLISH SCHOOL GRAPHICS

The Window Film Company has completed the print and installation of a set of stunning, full colour graphics at a school in Cumbria.

The Carlisle based school has over 1,500 students and contacted The Window Film Company for an effective way of adding custom created graphics to several windows on the school premises. The idea was to achieve a stained-glass effect, with the school providing the custom-made artwork.

After discussions with the team at the school, it was agreed that the best way of achieving the desired finish would be to use optically clear window film. A long lasting and durable product, optically clear window film is, as the name suggests, completely clear. It can be used to bring glass up to safety standard (in the event of accidental or malicious damage, the film serves to hold the glass together in the frame instead of allowing it to fall in on itself) and also helps to slow down the fading process by filtering out up to 99% of the sun’s potentially harmful UV rays (the biggest single contributing factor to fading). The film also provides the perfect surface on which to print.

The Window Film Company has an in-house graphics and print team, allowing for quick turn round times, consistent quality control and also experimenting with different films and opacities to ensure the best possible result. On this occasion the school were able to provide the artwork and the precise sizes of the window panes, enabling the team to precision create each panel, taking into account eh window dimensions to ensure it flowed seamlessly from pane to pane.

With the print complete, the film was despatched with a team of The Window Film Company’s fully qualified and vastly experienced fitting teams for installation. The Work was carried out a time and date agreed in advance between the school and The Window Film Company’s operations team, with the timings agreed to ensure the minimum of fuss and disruption at the school.

With the film in place, the windows were immediately transformed to create a stunning colourful display, with the properties of the film allowing natural light to pass through the glass, in turn illuminating the design.
