HEAT AND FADE PROTECTION FOR PETS AT HOME

Feb 04 2022

The Window Film Company offers a range of high-performance heat and glare reduction window films, with different films delivering an appearance and performance suitable for any situation. This installation saw the fitting of Optiview 35 to a large Pets at Home store in Kent.

Shopfronts are a vital component to a retail store. They allow potential customers to see inside the premises, they allow for excellent levels of natural light and also deliver a stylish appearance. While these benefits are clear, large glass shopfronts can also result in unwanted issues including excess heat, year-round glare and fading.

Excess heat occurs when solar energy continually passes through glass, steadily adding to the internal temperature. During summer months this can quickly result in uncomfortable levels of heat and a reliance on expensive cooling via air conditioning, which can also be undesirable. While excess heat is only a problem during warmer months, glare can be a year-round problem. Bright sunlight shining through glass can make for an uncomfortable environment, making it hard to focus on colleagues, customers or screens. Fading is also a concern for shops, for obvious reasons and is caused by three major factors – UV rays, heat and natural light.

Window film from The Window Film Company can provide a highly effective solution to all these issues, and so advice and an installation for this pet store in Kent was sought.

After discussions with the project managers, it was understood that the film needed to be effective against heat and fading, while also having as neutral an appearance as possible.

It was agreed that the most suitable film for this project would be Optiview 35. This specially developed film serves to reduce excess heat by 45%, reduce glare by 58% while blocking 99% of the sun’s potentially harmful UV rays – the biggest single contributing factor to fading. The film delivers all this while allowing excellent levels of natural light – perfect for use in a busy outlet such as this.

The film was installed to over 50 panels of varying size by a team of The Window Film Company’s skilled fitters, applying the film to the internal side of the glass to ensure the longest possible effective life for the film. Once in place, the film was effective immediately, providing excellent heat reduction and fade protection, while also looking stylish, maintaining vision and allowing excellent levels of natural light.
