The Window Film Company is an expert supplier and installer of multi-purpose, high-performance solar control window film. The film can be used in a range of situations and locations to deliver a range of benefits such as temperature control, glare reduction and fade protection.

This project involved an application of film to a branch of popular retailer Pets Corner, with the film required to help mitigate against potential fading.

The Richmond based store benefits from an extensive glass frontage, giving the premises a stylish, contemporary look, while also allowing an uninterrupted view from the outside in – ideal for allowing potential customers to see the inside of the store and a range of the products available. While the benefits to glazing such as this are clear, large panes of glass can cause issues, with the potential damage done by UV rays a key consideration.

UV rays are the biggest single contributing factor when it cones to fading. Combined with heat and natural light, the suns UV rays can cause fade damage – a clear issue for retail outlets such as this. A solution was therefore sought, with the most suitable film identified as Climate 70.

This film delivers the necessary UV protection by filtering out up to 99% of the sun’s UV rays. It also rejects up to 45% of solar energy, helping to reduce excess heat, while also cutting down on glare by over 20%. All of this is achieved without having a huge impact on the appearance of the glass – a view is maintained from both sides of the glass, while excellent levels of natural light are also allowed to pass through the glass.

The film was applied to the internal face of the glass by a team of The Window Film Company’s expert installers, with a total of 12 large panes and two floor to ceiling doors having the window film applied. Once in place, the film was effective immediately, serving to block the majority of the sun’s UV rays, without impacting on the appearance of the premises or sacrificing natural light.
