For shops and businesses, the appearance of their premises is an important consideration. By creating an attractive, stylish, professional and welcoming appearance, the likelihood of attracting customers increases, with buildings playing an important part in marketing and branding. With glass often a major component of shopfronts and entrances, The Window Film Company is able to deliver eye-catching, custom created graphics to ensure the best possible look.

This project saw the print and installation of bespoke graphics to the glass frontage of a wine merchants in the West Midlands.

The business owners wanted to incorporate a combination of intricate illustrations and text into the storefront, turning the glazing into a striking display, while still allowing for a view into the store.

This brief was communicated to the team at The Window Film Company and it was agreed that the best way of achieving the desired effect would be to print the graphics onto optically clear film. As the name suggests, optically clear film is virtually undetectable when applied, ,allowing a completely uninterrupted view from both sides of the glass – important for a shopfront so passing customers can see inside.

The film delivers a number of benefits; blocking up to 99% of potentially harmful UV rays (the single biggest contributing factor to fading) while also adding an extra layer of safety to glass – an application of this type of window film will help to ensure that if glass does break, it does so in a safe manner – the film holding the broken glass together instead of letting shards fall in on themselves. The biggest benefit in this instance was the fact that this film provides a perfect surface on which to print.

The graphics were supplied by the shop owners to The Window Film Company’s in-house print and graphics team, who used state of the art print technology to print the design in brilliant white ink onto the film. The intricate and detailed nature of the design meant that the finished appearance was that of cut graphics – the white design standing out perfectly against the clear background of the film.

Each panel was computer cut for the ultimate in precision, before being applied to the glass by a team of The Window Film Company’s expert installers. The end result was a stylish and impressive window display, delivering an interesting and eye-catching aesthetic, while still allowing for a clear view in and out of the busy store.
