UPGRADING GLASS WITH SAFETY WINDOW FILM

Mar 03 2023

The Window Film Company supply a range of safety and security window films, suitable for use in both residential and commercial settings. The film provides an added layer of protection, often without altering the appearance of glass.

This project saw the installation of 100 Micron Safety Window Film, with the film installed to over 30 panes of differing sizes by a team of The Window Film Company’s fully qualified fitters.

This window film is completely clear, meaning it is virtually undetectable when installed, maintaining the view from both sides of the glass and ensuring that the flow of natural light into the property is uninterrupted. Once in place the film will block up to 90% of the sun’s potentially harmful rays (UV rays are the single biggest contributing factor to fading), delivering an additional benefit to the primary function – enhanced safety and security.

The film works by adding an extra layer of protection to glass, making it more resistant to breakage but really coming into its own if the glass does break – either in accidental or malicious circumstances. If glass is untreated and in breaks, it simply breaks into shards and falls in on itself, breaking in a potentially dangerous fashion and easily coming away from the frame. With safety window film in place, this doesn’t happen. If safety window film is applied to glass and it does succumb to breakage, the film serves to hold the glass together in the frame, stopping it from breaking into smaller shards and falling in on itself.

By keeping fractured glass together in the frame, safety window film can help to prevent injury and additional damage, while also helping to make gaining access too property via a broken pane significantly harder.

The film was applied to the internal side of the glass and was effective immediately, delivering a virtually invisible added layer of protection and peace of mind.
