CLEAR CHOICE FOR FIGHTING FADING

Clear UV from The Window Film Company is a specialist window film designed to block UV rays without altering the appearance of the glass. This installation took place at a residential property in Wiltshire, with the film applied to protect specially created wine storage cabinets.

Left unchecked, the sun’s UV rays can be damaging. UV light is the single biggest contributing factor to fading, combining with visible light and heat to cause irreparable fade damage. An application of specialist window film from The Window Film Company can help alleviate this threat.

While it’s important to recognise that completely preventing fading is a difficult task (to do so it would be necessary to completely block any light from passing through your glass and to carefully manage any subsequent artificial light) an application of window film is an excellent way of reducing the impact.

A range of window films are suitable for UV reduction, with a large number of films blocking up to 99% of UV light (our specialist Amber 81 film is available for the ultimate in UV protection) while also helping to reduce heat. The majority of these films transform the appearance of glass, with most adding a reflective, mirrored effect to the external face of the glazing during daylight hours. This means that these types of films aren’t suitable for use when vision is required to be uninterrupted through the glazing.

For situations and locations that mean the glass needs to retain its original appearance (museums, displays and shopfronts for example) and application of Clear UV window film is the best solution. As the name suggests, Clear UV is a see-through film and is virtually undetectable to the naked eye when installed, rejecting 99% of UV rays without altering the appearance of the glass.

This project saw a requirement for Clear UV film on 6 large panels that formed specially created, bespoke wine storage walls. Each panel was 1m x 2.1m in size, meaning the film was applied to over 12 square metres, with the work carried out by a team of The Window Film Company’s highly skilled installation teams.

With the film in place, it was effective immediately, blocking 99% of the sun’s UV rays without blocking the view or altering the appearance of the glass.
