UV PROTECTION IN CAMBRIDGE: AMBER 81

The Window Film Company supply and installs a range of high-performance UV protection films, including a specialist window film called Amber 81 for the ultimate in UV blocking and filtration.

Fading can be a year-round issue, with UV rays combining with heat and sunlight to cause potential damage to flooring, furniture, artwork and other equipment or belongings. A number of window films from The Window Film Company will help slow down the fading process by tackling a number of these factors (a number of window films from The Window Film Company block up to 99% of UV rays) while for situations that require the most extensive UV blocking and protection, Amber 81 is the appropriate choice.

As the name suggests, Amber 81 has an amber appearance and has been specially developed to block UV light into the low light region, rejecting in excess of 99% of UV light and proving an infared rejection figure of 18%. This high-level pf protection makes the film suitable for use in clean rooms, photography labs, and as in this case, pharmaceutical facilities.

This project was completed at a Cambridge-based pharmaceutical company, with the film required on a total of 13 panes of varying sizes. The protective window film, which delivers the UV protection without blocking excessive levels of natural light or the view, was applied by a team of The Window Film Company’s expert installers, with each panel precision trimmed to ensure a perfect fit on each pane.

Once in place, the film was effective immediately, delivering UV blocking into the low visible light range up to 500nm, filtering out the unwanted wavelengths while letting safe visible light pass through.
