If, when the warmer weather arrives, you often find yourself wondering “Does heat reducing window film work?” Well, we’re happy to confirm that yes, window film is a highly effective and cost efficient way of keeping your home, office or conservatory cooler during warmer weather.
The Window Film Company offers a range of specialist solar control, heat reduction window films, each offering a different level of performance and a different aesthetic appearance.
While we are window film experts (The Window Film Company has been in existence for over 25 successful years!), we understand that for most people, having ascertained that the film does provide and excellent heat reduction solution, there will still be plenty of questions. Allow us to try and answer a few of the most frequently asked…
How does heat reduction window film work?
Heat reduction window film works by reflecting away a percentage of the sun’s energy (heat) before it can pass through glass and add to the internal temperature. It achieves this by taking on a reflective external appearance during daylight hours; with the mirrored effect serving to bounce away excess heat instead of allowing it to pass through the glass.
The amount of heat reduction will depend on the type of film chosen; there are a range of options available, each with a different appearance and performance level. To discuss your requirements, please call us on 01494 794477 and one of our experts will help you decide on the right film for your exact situation.
How will heat reduction window film change the look of my glass?
Effective solar control or heat reduction will mean that the appearance of your glass is changed. In the majority of cases this will mean that during daylight hours, your glass will take on a reflective or tinted appearance. The appearance will depend on the film chosen, but it is important to be aware that it isn’t possible to achieve heat reduction via window film without changing the appearance of your glass to a lesser or greater degree.
There are a range of finishes and colours available; we strive to ensure that there is a look that will suit the style and aesthetic you desire – you can get a feel for what is available on our website here.
Will it make the inside of my home or office dark?
On a bright, sunny day, the interior of your home or office will still feel bright and airy after window film has been installed. Our heat reduction window films have been specially developed to allow excellent levels of light transmission, recognising that light is a key consideration in both residential and commercial settings.
While there will be a reduction in natural light, it’s important to note that more traditional ways of stopping heat such as blinds or curtains will block both the view and the light. Window film is not only more effective but it will maintain the light and the view.
What other benefits does heat reduction window film have?
In addition to be a highly effective and cost efficient way of reducing excess heat, The Window Film Company’s range of solar control window films will also reduce glare and will help fight fading by filtering out potentially harmful UV rays. For more information on film for either of these requirements, you can visit our glare reduction section or fade protection section.
Is heat reduction window film easy to install?
The majority of our window films are available on a DIY basis. Each order comes complete with fitting instructions, and we have comprehensive video fitting guides available online. Window film from The Window Film Company is designed to be fitted without any prior experience and with only a few standard tools, so if you are considering buying window film to fit yourself, you can do so with confidence!
