Heat reduction window film from The Window Film Company serves a number of purposes; cutting down on excess heat, reducing glare and blocking potentially harmful and damaging UV rays. It is suitable for application to glazing in residential and commercial settings, and as this project demonstrates – is available in an external grade for when an internal application isn’t possible.
Excess heat can make the internal environment uncomfortable and occurs when solar energy (heat!) passes through untreated glass, relentlessly adding to the temperature. An application of solar control window film from The Window Film Company will help slow down this steady build up, in turn cutting down on the excess, unwanted heat.
The majority of solar control window films take on a reflective external appearance during daylight hours, with the mirrored effect serving to reflect away a percentage of the sun’s solar energy before it can pass through the glass and add to the internal temperature.
The amount of solar energy rejected will depend on the type of film chosen, with a range of grades available – each offering a different performance level and aesthetic finish. For example, the film chosen for this project, External High Reflective Silver, rejects up to 78%.
This particular film also reduces glare by up to 83% and blocks up to 99% of potentially harmful UV rays – the single biggest contributing factor to fading. All of these benefits are achieved without blocking the daytime view from the inside out, or by sacrificing high levels of natural light.
For this project, access to the internal face of the glass was impossible, so the fitting took place to the external side of the glazing – a large conservatory rooflight in South-West London.
The film was expertly applied by a team of The Window Film Company’s fully qualified fitters, with the film working as soon as it was in place; delivering a sleek and stylish external appearance and a highly effective heat and glare reduction solution, while also blocking UV rays.
