The Window Film Company ensure Watford's walls are winners...

Whilst Watford FC narrowly missed out on promotion last season, the club are doing all they can to ensure that their facilities are top of the league, and The Window Film Company were delighted to play a part in helping the Hornets home look fit for the top flight.

Football Clubs pride themselves on their history, and Watford are no different. The Hertfordshire club’s most successful period came in the early 80’s and it was decided that images from this time would be used to adorn the walls of some of the hospitality areas at Vicarage Road Stadium.

With a number of iconic images to choose from, the real challenge for the club was to recreate the pictures in a large, inspiring format, turning what were ordinary internal walls into eye-catching displays that would add to the visitor experience. The Window Film Company were able to suggest the ideal solution: digital wallpaper.

Digital wallpaper is a durable, versatile product that can be printed onto in full colour and then applied to virtually any flat surface. Using state of the art wide format printers The Window Film Company can reproduce images at a large size in high quality and full colour, bringing designs, illustrations and images to life on walls and flat surfaces.

The Football Club identified a series of images that showed some of the club’s proudest and most memorable achievements, with one of the images featuring then club Chairman Elton John celebrating along with the team that under Graham Taylor had achieved promotion to the top division for the first time ever.  The Window Film Company’s graphics team examined each image, ensuring it was of a sufficient standard to print at the required size. A sample section of wallpaper was printed and sent to club representatives for approval. With the proof quickly approved, the images were scaled to fit the walls, before printing and cutting the images ready for installation.

The work was required before the start of the football season in August, so The Window Film Company’s dedicated operations team worked closely with Watford to arrange a suitable installation date. As well as the high end finish provided by digital wallpaper, another benefit is the paste-free application process, which allows installers carry out fitting with the minimum of fuss.

The finished walls look fantastic, with the corridors of Vicarage Road now alive with tales of excitement and success. On the pitch, if the team can turn in performances that are as eye-catching as some of the stadium walls, Hornets supporters should be in for a treat!
