Heavenly Window Film

We’ve always enjoyed being part of the (window!) film industry, but we delighted to have been called into action to help bring an exciting new TV show to life recently.

“Good Omens” is a multi-part dramatisation of the book of the same name by Terry Pratchett, starring a host of household names such David Tennant, Michael Sheen and Jack Whitehall. The series follows a demon and an angel who find themselves experiencing a life on earth. Part of the show takes place in “heaven” and it’s here that The Window Film Company was called into action, applying a large quantity of window film to create the desired effect ahead of filming.

For shooting, a film was required that would deliver privacy and provide a specific light, bright appearance. After discussions with the production team it was agreed that Frostbrite frosted window film would be the appropriate solution. Frostbrite is a long lasting and durable window film, that once applied gives glazing the look of acid etched or sandblasted glass. This prevents a view from both sides of the window, while still allowing natural light to pass through the glass.

A number of test panels were installed at the location to assess the suitability of the film and after viewing the films performance and appearance in different lighting conditions and at different times of day, it was agreed that Frostbrite frosted window film would be the ideal solution.

The film was required for a total of 130 glazed panels, each of which were almost two metres in height. Many of the panes had a different type of window film, now redundant, applied to them, so before the installation could commence, this film had to be removed and the glass returned to its original state. Both elements of the project were undertaken by a team of The Window Film Company’s fully qualified and vastly experienced fitting teams, taking two days to complete the work, ensuring the site was ready for filming to commence well ahead of the scheduled date.
