The installation process is straightforward and can be carried out with no prior experience. You’ll require nothing more than a couple of standard household items and you will receive full fitting instructions with your order, as well as a free application squeegee. In a nutshell, you’ll be required to remove the backing sheet from the film, then cover both the film and your glass in a soapy water solution. The film will then flow onto the glass, with the soapy water allowing you to manoeuvre it into place. Once in position, use the squeegee to smooth out the moisture. It’s as simple as that.

How will my glass look?
The Window Film Company offers a wide range of films for a variety of purposes. The way your film looks will depend on the type you purchase, but all of our films have been developed to deliver a stylish and aesthetically pleasing finish. Solar control films are likely to have a more reflective finish, while our popular Frostbrite film (including all of our designer collections) will give your glazing the classic look of acid etched or sandblasted glass. We also offer a range of coloured films that will change the colour of your glass, without blocking the view or natural light.
Handy hint: If you’d like to know exactly how a film will look on your window, ask us for a sample! We’ll happily send you one, allowing you to see exactly how the film you are interested in looks and performs.
Will it make my room dark?
The simple answer to this one, is no! Window film has been developed and engineered over the years to allow as much natural light to pass through the glass as possible. We’re keenly aware that while glazing can cause issues such as excess heat or privacy problems, the natural light glass delivers is vitally important. That’s why our films have been developed to ensure that your room won’t feel dark after installation.
Handy hint: The stats for each film are available, including natural light transmission figures. If you’d like more details, give us a call! Don’t forget you can ask for a sample, too!
Will it make my room cold?
This question is asked regarding our solar control film. This film is designed to stop the steady build-up of heat, in turn preventing conservatories, orangeries and other rooms with a lot of glazing from getting uncomfortably hot during the summer months. During the winter you’ll notice no difference - the film won’t make it colder, nor will it act as an insulating barrier. The benefit comes during the warmer weather,
Handy hint: Solar control film can also help prevent glare and slow down the fading process.
Window film is designed to stay in place for as long as you want it. However, if you live in a rented property or are hoping to change the design on a regular basis, then fret not - the film is very straightforward to remove and it’s easy to return your glass to its original state.
Handy hint: It can be easier to remove window film on a warmer day. To begin, start by peeling a corner at the top of your pane and slowly peel the film away.
