Magnificent marble...

When The Window Film Company were approached and asked to turn glass into marble, their team of experts knew exactly what to do…

As part of an extensive office fit-out programme, The Window Film Company were asked to provide a solution for a two pronged problem. The expansive, modern Berkshire-based office boasted a number of large floor-to-ceiling glass partitions. Some of these formed meeting rooms in the largely open plan premises, while others formed the backdrop to the reception area. The client had a requirement for the view through the glass to be blocked, while also adding a stylish decorative effect to the glazing.

The client had created bespoke artwork to form the display, an eye-catching gold and white marble effect and it was this design that was to be recreated across thirteen glass panels throughout the office.

The artwork was supplied with an exact pantone colour reference that the client wanted the design to be reproduced in, allowing The Window Film Company’s in-house design and print team to experiment with different ink opacities and other variables to deliver the exact finish required. The design was going to be printed onto a solid white vinyl film, so a number of different variants were printed and supplied to the project co-ordinators for approval.

With the proof agreed, work commenced on creating each of the thirteen panels. The panels were of a uniform height (each just under three metres in height) but were of varying widths, with a small gap between each pane. The panels were precision cut by computer, including an allowance for the gap between each piece of glass, ensuring that the pattern would flow perfectly; completely uninterrupted.

The finished product was an eye-catching and striking marble effect, created from gold print onto a perfect white vinyl. The design was enhanced by uplighters at the base of each pane, the light serving to give the artwork an added element of style and impact.

The film delivered both decoration and privacy, seamlessly integrating with the theme and style of the office while also creating a beautiful feature and a welcoming and impressive aesthetic.
