A Good Sport...

The Window Film Company is proud having of having extensive experience of working at some of the biggest and most important sporting locations in the Country. Ranging from work at a number of venues used in the London Olympics, to graphics for the Lawn Tennis Association and custom creations at the world famous Lords cricket ground.

This year has seen an expansion of our sporting clients with work carried out at Football Clubs including Everton of the Premier League alongside Championship Clubs Watford and Wolverhampton Wanderers. The work was wide ranging, including club crests cut and printed from a number of different materials, decorative films for hospitality areas, specialist brick vinyl for concourses and bar areas to digitally printed wallpaper for training complexes and executive boxes.

Sporting venues are increasingly aware of the need to create a memorable and impressive experience for their visitors, hence the increase in decorative and design or style lead improvements to stadia. That doesn’t mean the demand for functional film has decreased however, with a recent job taking place at the Recreation Ground, home to Bath – one of the most famous names in club rugby.

The work was required throughout a number of the stadium’s executive boxes, with existing film that had reached the end of its natural life removed and replaced. The executive boxes at the ground boast excellent view of the playing surface, with the front of each box made solely from clear glass. This allows for a superb, uninterrupted view, but does also mean that the glass needs to meet safety standards and manifestation requirements.

The application of safety film to the glass by one of The Window Film Company’s trained teams of installers will immediately upgrade glass to meet the appropriate safety standard, making it a cost effective alternative to costly replacement glass. Once installed, the film will add an extra layer of protection to the glass and will serve to hold the glass together in frame should breakage occur. By holding the broken glass together, the film prevents sharp and dangerous shards from falling away, protecting those inside from potentially serious injury.

Floor to ceiling glass also requires manifestation to be applied. Simply, these are markings that are placed at locations determined by Building Regulations to make the glass visible. Manifestation can take the form of bands or a repeated pattern such as dots or squares – The Window Film Company are also experts in the creation of bespoke manifestation designs. On this occasion, the existing safety film and manifestation required stripping and replacing with manifestation created from Frostbrite frosted film and 100 Micron clear safety film – the clear nature of the film ensuring that the necessary safety level was achieved without sacrificing the view of the pitch.

These are just a few examples of the ways The Window Film Company’s products and services have been utilised in sporting arenas and other public attractions throughout the UK, so if you do attend a sporting event or visitor attraction over the festive period, the chances are you could be lucky enough to see some of our work!
