Beat the heat to keep it sweet...

Shops and retail outlets regularly use their windows to showcase their stock or to raise brand awareness. Whilst these options are clearly beneficial to businesses, windows can also cause difficulties, especially when it comes to the warmer months.

Heat can be a major issue for properties with glass frontages, with the warmth of the sun magnified by the glass. For Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shop in Hertfordshire, this was a very real and potentially costly problem, with the heat in the summer months threatening to cause damage to the range of chocolate and sweets within.

With summer on the horizon, and the weather warming up, the proprietors contacted The Window Film Company for a solution. The brief was clear; reduce the heat without having a major impact on the view. Whilst the heat issue needed to be addressed, it was equally important that whatever film was installed allowed passing customers were able to see into the shop.

The Window Film Company had the solution.

Part of the Climate range of window films, Climate 70 provides excellent heat reduction whilst also maintaining excellent two way vision. Once applied to the glass, the film is instantly effective, cutting down the build-up of heat and protecting the stock within from damage. In addition to solar control, the window film also serves to cut down on glare, ensuring the shop remained a comfortable environment for both customers and staff.

As is the case with the majority of solar control window films, Climate 70 also filters up to 99% of the sun’s harmful UV rays. This is valuable as UV rays are one of the main factors that cause fading – another issue for retail outlets with windows used for display. An application of solar control film will help slow down this damaging process.

The Window Film Company arranged for samples of the film to be sent to the shop, allowing the owner to see the film in situ before committing to purchase. Having seen the film on the window and getting a full understanding for the both the appearance and the performance, it was agreed to proceed.

The film was fitted by one of The Window Film Company’s expert installation teams, whose experience and attention to detail allows them to deliver a perfect job – vital for a customer facing window such as this. The film was applied to six panes, with the film instantly effective and barely visible to the untrained eye.

The result is a protective barrier that will serve to protect against heat, fading and glare - each factor contributing to helping the business to grow and succeed. For more details on how The Window Film Company can help protect your business, contact us on 01494 794477
